A little about me...
2022-2023 is my 2nd year teaching at Prairie Trail School. I got my teaching degree at Southern Illinois University and completed my student teaching at Prairie Trail during the 2020-2021 school year. I am excited to be working with such a wonderful community of students and staff.
Teaching has always been a large part of my life. Two of my biggest role models are my father and my uncle, who both spent their lives teaching. Both retired as principals. While in high school, I would volunteer at my father's school and help with the kindergarten and the music classes. My first job was teaching. At age 16, I taught piano lessons to students ages 3-16. Through that music academy, I was provided the opportunity to travel and perform. I sang vocals for a keyboard orchestra throughout Italy, New York's Carnegie Hall, Disneyworld, and many local venues. Teaching piano and vocals cemented the dream of being in the education field.
I have always found joy in teaching others. I became extremely invested in fulfilling my dreams a few years ago, when I returned to college to complete my teaching degree. Returning to college provided me with a variety of experiences to use in my own classroom. I was granted the opportunity to travel to Bagamoyo, Tanzania in Africa, with a study abroad program. While there, I volunteered at TRACED, the Tanzania Resource and Assessment Centre for Children with Disabilities. I have also attended programs such as the Leadership seminar at CLC, where I learned how to strengthen my skills as a leader.
