NEW STUDENTS

Spring 2010

DearParents:

You have notified Gurnee School District 56 that youare a new resident to our District and that you have children who will beattending our schools for the 2010-2011 school year.  If you have not already done so, you are encouraged tocontact our District Office at (847) 336-0800 to confirm that your new addressis within District boundaries.  Welook forward to assisting you with this process.

At this time, we would like to take an opportunityto welcome you to the District. For all students new to the District, the following documents must bepresented at the time of registration: an official birth certificate,current immunization, and recent school physical form.  If a student is transferring from anotherpublic school in Illinois, an Illinois Student Transfer form must be obtainedfrom the previous school and submitted along with the other registrationdocuments.

IMPORTANT:  Please refer to the Proof of Residency Check sheetincluded in this packet and be sure to have these documents in hand beforeyou attempt to register your child.

New student registration will occur at the DistrictOffice on:

June 14 & 15 from 12:00– 4:00 p.m.

July 19 – 22 from 12:00 –4:00 p.m.

July 26 – 28 from 12:00 – 4:00p.m.

July 29 from 2:00 – 6:00p.m.

All kindergarten students will register at the timeof Kindergarten Screening on June 8 – 9 from 8:00 – 3:30.  “All kindergarten students must bescreened prior to placement.  Parentsof kindergarten students should contact Spaulding School at (847) 662-3701after April 12 for an appointment time.”   

Every attempt should be made to pay school fees atthe time of registration.  Parents,however, are encouraged to register students for school as early as possibleand make arrangements to pay fees at a later time to ensure registration iscompleted in a timely manner. If all registration steps are completed in atimely manner, teacher assignments and transportation information will beposted on the front door of your child’s school building on Monday, August 16,2010.  Students not registered for school by August 16th will not be permittedto start school on time (August 24, 2010) and will begin school on or afterAugust 26, 2010.
